It was dark and the moon gave her light to walk to, not that she was walking because the two males she traveled with were being delicate with her, which was something she hoped she never had to suffer again.

“Haaaaaaaaaaooooo,” breathed Oxus, dropping her from his shoulder and then guided her all the way to the sandy ground which probably meant there were water-creatures around.

Keeping her eyes open and watching as dark shadows moved toward them.

A roar cowed her ears as a bloom of heat rushed from Oxus’s mouth. A high pitched cry echoed in the air as a handful of those monsters ran to the ground to roll themselves out – and that’s when Deem attacked. Striking fast and for once she could appreciate how fast he was.

There were more cries and more roars. Prussia's fingers dug further into the ground hoping that today wasn’t the day she died. With every second that passed, she felt like it was an eternity. She couldn’t think, couldn’t run, couldn’t even lift her head because she was afraid.

She heard Deem hiss and that wasn’t good. He was yelling at someone and she hoped it wasn’t her. But what if he wanted her to get out from behind the rock. There was another cry but this one was wet and the person gurgled.

Her stomach dropped imagining what Deem was doing to them. She didn’t hear Oxus and she hoped that he was okay, but they had moved too far from her to see them all, not to mention that Oxus was black dressed in grey pants and a black shirt.

When the cries stopped she held her breath wondering where everyone was and if Oxus made it, considering the medscope he should have but medscopes didn’t cure everything. At her feet, she heard his rumble.

Shocked he was so close, she jerked back.

He rumbled again and tapped the top of her hand. Holding up her palm he took it and without a call to Deem, Oxus pulled her forward. She made sure to high step as they moved quickly. Within minutes he pulled her around a stone structure and then lifted her over his shoulder and kept going.

She didn’t fight him but only because he was moving silently and she worried that they were more of those monsters than they had come up against. Oxus kept going until they were past the stone buildings and onto a dark shadow that looked as tall as the sky. As they drew near she realized the large shadows were trees.

To her surprise, Deem pulled up to Oxus’s side then made a sound and they both turned on a dime and changed directions. They moved through the dense woods in almost perfect silence except for the occasional break of twigs underfoot. They got a little louder when her breaths came in pants because holding herself up on his shoulder was starting to strain.

When they slowed to a stop she could hear the battle even though she couldn’t see it.

Oxus lowered her to the ground.
